parler
la street

PHOTOGRAPHY & EDITION / 2019

The French Academy, created in 1635,
is in charge of the regulation of French
language by designing its dictionary.

However, we have undeniably different
ways of speaking French, as the formal
language or the colloquial language.
Some are enhanced when others are
despised, as the slang and the street
language of the suburbs.

Do words as akhi, bendo, nessbi, have
less importance than other words which
are present in the dictionary? Could the
value of a word be determined by its use?
