This project is freely inspired by the thought
of Jean-Paul Sartre about the waiter
in Being and Nothingness. According to him,
the latter plays a part when he is working,
it is a choreography. He wears a mask in order
to be kind with clients.
This short film draws a parallel between
the drug dealer and the waiter, he complies
for his job, he does it to earn a living.
The drug dealer character is only a mask,
it is not his true personality. However,
it is still his choice. To match with this mask
idea, the drug dealer wears a balaclava.
We do not know who he is, he is just playing
a part for the clients.
Moreover, in order to remain him anonymous,
the whole preparation has been shot in a very
dark atmosphere and his face never appears
in the field of vision. When we finally expect
to see his face, he puts on his balaclava.
Then, when he begins to work and starts
playing his part, the background becomes
bright, the pace speeds up until he wakes up:
he was just dreaming of the worst day.
